I live in Victoria, B.C., Canada. My husband and I
owned a very special Airedale named Pepper. She came
into our lives a 14 weeks and for 13 years she went
everywhere with us -no questions asked and always ready
for fun! We dearly miss her loyalty and playfulness.
As we were not able to have another large dog, we now
own a female Welsh Terrier. We have discovered that
Megan has many of the delightful characteristics of the
Airedale packed into a small body. People who recall
Pepper will say, " You have put your Airedale in the
dryer!" We are frequently asked, "Is she a miniature
Airedale?"
Megan is a real "snoozer" so I was able to use her as my
Sleeping Beauty model. I had fun choosing the fabrics for this block. A
non-quilting friend suggested a quilt rather than just a
blanket for the bed. Another friend in my quilt group
gave me this almost perfect printed dog quilt fabric
-unfortunately no terriers were represented! In my
stash, I found this paw print fabric that could look
just right as an ermine collar for Prince Charming's
royal purple cape. I began quilting in 1998. While searching quilting and
dog sites on the web, I came across "Annette's House"
and the ADT Rescue group. I was immediately attracted to
this worthy cause and this is the 5th time that I have
contributed to the raffle quilts "In Memory of Pepper".
